Anwar Abudragh was born in Baghdad . In1991 he obtained a Diploma in Music from the Institute of Musical Studies in Baghdad with honours. He obtained in 1995 the degree of Bachelor of Music from the College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. He studied for two years at the Academy Arthur De Greef, Brussels – Belgium. The famous musician Munir Bashir and the late musician Naseer Shamma played a significant role in the musical formation of Abudragh, who joined Albayariq, a group founded by Munir Bashir in 1986 and supervised by the Naseer Shamma. He held for some time the duties of dean at the Institute of Musical Studies and also in the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad. He was a professor of Arabic music in the Arab Cultural Centre in Brussels and participated in several Arab and international festivals in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Greece 'Tcheck republic, Australia. Jordan, Egypt, the countries of the UAE, the Lebanon, Algeria, Oman. Abudragh works currently on creating a new vision of Iraqi Maqam based on the roots of authentic classical music, to be implemented by his music group Maqamat. Founder and director of the musical group Maqamat, specialised in Arab and Iraqi maqam in Belgium since 2006. Currently he is director of Maqamat School for Arabic music and Iraqi Maqam, in Belgium.
